南京大屠殺紀念館微博內容指出，「熊本人組建的日軍第6師團，是南京大屠殺元凶」，並且提到「熊本縣日中友好協會二十多年以來，堅持到紀念館悼念遇難南京同胞」，其中協會會員櫻井正美今年3月底還到訪紀念館，櫻井表示「該協會成員每年12月均自費邀請南京大屠殺倖存者赴日舉行證言集會」。對此，紀念館表示掛念日中友好協會的朋友。
